DAY 01 | AIRPORT – COLOMBO (TRAVEL TIME: 45min)

Upon arrival & you will meet our chauffer/ National Guide, who greet at the Bandaranayke International Airport.

Thereafter you will transfer to your hotel in Colombo. Upon arrival at hotel, check in to the hotel and relax in few hours & transfer to Beddegana Wetland Park for exploring the bird watching in Sri Lanka.

Nestled within the ‘Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Bird Sanctuary’, a trove of tropical mysteries buzzing with an abundance of life, the ‘Beddagana Wetlands Park’ is a sight to behold. A quaint nature trail weaves its way through the cluster of overgrown shrubs and low hanging vines, offering one an experience of walking through a forest, albeit with less risks. The refreshing gust of cold air wraps around you, as you step into a beautifully done haven for nature lovers.

A raised wooden platform entwines its way through the intersected marsh, as the unfailing beauty of flora and fauna are witnessed, an unhindered route to the crux of the park’s attractions. Sneak a peek at a kingfisher dawdling by, take in the unparalleled freedom of the many bird and animal species adorning the lush expanse of marshy plains and swamp. Located close to the heart of Colombo, a highlight of Kotte’s attractions, the ‘Beddagana Wetland Park’ speaks of a blissfully tranquil atmosphere, an entrancing walk through nature.

On completion you will return to the hotel for your overnight.

DAY 02 | COLOMBO – CHILAW (TRAVEL TIME: 03hrs & 45min)

Breakfast at the main restaurant, Today you will leave towards Chilaw & en route visit Muthurajawela bird sanctuary park.

The Muthurajawela marsh is part of an integrated coastal wetland system of high biodiversity and ecological significance, which covers an area of 3,068 ha. It is located between 10-30 km north of Colombo in the Gampaha District. Together with the Negombo Lagoon (3,164 ha), Muthurajawela forms an integrated coastal wetland system of high biodiversity and ecological significance.

It is considered one of most important places in Sri Lanka in terms of flora and is a hotspot for botanists and plan enthusiasts. The Bio diversity report says 209 fauna varieties were identified in the sanctuary, with 17 endemic types and 26 nationally threatened varieties.

On completion you will proceed to Chilaw & upon arrival at the hotel. Check in to the hotel. Thereafter you will visit Anawilundawa Wetland park for doing your bird watching safari.

The Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary is situated in the Puttalam district in the North Western province of the country; between Chilaw and Puttlam – to be more specific - it is situated between the coast and the Chilaw-Puttlam railway line.The uniqueness of Anawilundawa is its immediate proximity to three vastly different ecosystems; the coast, the mangroves and the fresh water tanks making it one of the six RAMSAR Wetlands in Sri Lanka. This unique ecological setting ha s made it a favourable nesting and breeding ground for hundreds of species of birds.

Return to the hotel.

DAY 03 & 04 | CHILAW – MANNAR (TRAVEL TIME: 02hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel, today your next destination would be in Mannar. Leave from hotel & depart to Mannar. Check in to the hotel. You are spending two nights in Mannar .Today you will be starting to explore the birds in Mannar.

There are numerous bird activities you may experience whilst staying at Palmyrah House.

Sri Lanka is bird paradise an island which is Tropical Island in Indian Ocean. The consideration to the population of the birds spot we cannot forget Mannar Island. The ideal place spots in Sri Lanka for migrating birds and animals are seen in Mannar Island. The bird migration season is starting February and March. Gyomoni is representative of the bird safari she is bird guider of the Palmyrah house at Mannar. Basically, in Manner’s birds can be seen Common brown headed gull, black headed gull, Glossy lbis, Black drongo, Indian roller, Western reef egret and Indian spot billed duck.

DAY 05 | MANNAR – WILPATTU (TRAVEL TIME: 01hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel main restaurant, Today we will leave early from the hotel to Wilpattu for doing evening safari at Wilpattu National Park. Upon arrival at Back Water hotel in Wilapattu & check in to the hotel & relax in few hours. Your first bird safari will begin at 1500hrs.

Wilpattu National Park is the largest national park in Sri Lanka. It is home to many diverse forest types. It was one of the first parks to open in Sri Lanka, and thus has a rich heritage. There are over 30 recorded mammalian species inside Wilpattu. Apart from birds leopards and sloth bear there are also Sri Lankan elephants and spotted deer. Wetland bird species such as the Pin tail, Whistling Teal Spoonbill, and the White Ibis can also be found in the Wilpattu National Park.

Return to the hotel for spending your overnight.

DAY 06 | WILPATTU – HABARANA (TRAVEL TIME: 02hrs &15min)

After breakfast, today you will drive to Habarana. To more observing the birds. Check in to the hotel. In the evening you will be observing an endemic bird in Habarana Jungle.

Sri Lanka is home to 26 endemic-bird species and seven proposed endemic species. The total number of bird species recorded in the island is 492 of which 219 are breeding residents. Bird Life International recognize Sri Lanka as one of the world's Endemic Bird Areas. The number of endemic species has changed many times over the years.

On completion you will proceed to Sigiriya Sanctuary Park further exploring & Climbing Sigiriya Lion Rock.

Surrounding of Sigiriya Rock Fortress is a designated forest reserve and is a very good birding destination. Sigiriya sanctuary is a well-protected area as it is a UNECO World Heritage Site, waterways and thick canopied forests make it a heaven for birds.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site, a spectacular Rock Fortress, is one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions. The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory. Built by King Kashyapa (477-495 A.D), the “Lion Rock” is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200m from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town and the base is ringed by a moat, rampart, and extensive gardens. The world-renowned frescoes (originally 500, of which only 19 remain today) which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway are painted in earth pigments on plaster. The old stairway to the top led through the mouth of a crouching lion but today only the huge paws remain giving an indication of the massive proportions of the head. Remains of the handsome royal citadel are on the summit and several caves for meditation, audience platforms and baths complete the unique site.

DAY 07 | HABARANA – MINNERIYA – KAWDULLA – HABARANA

After breakfast, today you will embark on a half day safaris at Kawdulla National Park & Minneriya National Park observing the more birds.

Minneriya National Park by jeep. The extent of the Minneriya National Park is about 8,889 hectares. Dry zone plant and animal species are common and elephants are in plenty. Unlike in other national parks, elephants could be spotted at a very close range. About 160 species of birds, 09 amphibians, 25 reptile species, 26 fish species and more than 78 butterfly species & birds have been found in this area. There are also rare bamboo trees in this park which are not found in other parks.

The Kaudulla reservoir is an important habitat for large water birds such as lesser adjutant, painted stork, and spot-billed pelican. Kaudulla is a dormitory for many resident as well as migrant bird species. Flocks of 2000 little cormorants have been reported. Great white pelican, ruddy turnstone, and grey heron are the other water birds here. Among the endemic birds are Sri Lanka jungle fowl, Sri Lanka hanging parrot, brown-capped babbler, Sri Lanka grey hornbill, black-crested bulbul and crimson-fronted barbet. The number of threatened birds recorded from this national park is 11.

DAY 08 | HABARANA – KNUCKLES - KANDY (TRAVEL TIME: 02hrs & 45min)

After breakfast, today you will leave towards Knuckles Range. Watching the numerous birds familial.

The Knuckles forest reserve is undoubtedly a paradise for ornithologists and bird-lovers. The mountain range has recorded 128 bird species of which 17 are endemic among which the Sri Lankan Swallow, Black Eagle, Pale billed flower pecker, Yellow Fronted Barbet, Sri Lanka hanging parrot, Sri Lankan White Eye, Brahminy kite, Yellow Eared Bulbuls, Babblers, White Throated Kingfisher and Dull blue flycatcher are frequently spotted. If you are a bird lover and nature enthusiast looking to enjoy bird watching in Knuckes, do not forget to take an evening stroll in search of these magnificent creatures. Take home with you, the memory of the cool breeze, the mist covered hills and the mind-soothing green together with your contented spirit.

On completion you will proceed to Kandy. Upon arrival at hotel & Check in to the hotel.

DAY 09 | KANDY

Today you will wake up early in the morning & you will start a little walk in lake round in Kandy with your expert bird guide & you will be seeing the singing the beautiful birds in the trees.On completion you will return to hotel & Take your breakfast. After breakfast you will explore Kandy city including temple of tooth relic & Peradeniya Botanical Garden,

Temple of the tooth, is the most important place for the present Buddhist because it is the final resting place of the sacred tooth relic of Buddha known as “Sri Dalada Maligawa.” It is famous for its carvings and the beautiful art that is unique to Sri Lanka. The most important part of the Dalada Maligawa is the octagon (Pathirppuwa). Thousands of people line up each day to get a glimpse of its majesty. Kandy is also the one of the most beautiful cities of Sri Lanka with its picturesque lake built by its last king, it’s hills surrounding the city, it’s devales the oldest the natha devale belonging to the 14th century and the palace of the last king of Kandy which are presently the districts courts and the archaeological museum. Kandy also is the centre for Buddhist cultural affairs with meditation centers and Buddhist publication societies.

On completion you will visit to explore the Peradeniya Botanical Garden.

Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya is one of the best botanical gardens in Sri Lanka, and one of the most beautiful in Asia. It is located just 6 km from Kandy, the second largest city in Sri Lanka. The botanical gardens is huge & well-organized gardens, It is renowned for the collection the variety of Orchids, and has more than 300 varieties of Orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palms trees attach it is the National Herbarium. Total land mass of the botanical garden is 147 acres; it is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture. The origins of the Botanic Gardens date as far back. The Classical Avenue of Palms is located in this Garden. One tree with a significant history is the Cannon ball Tree planted by King George V of the United Kingdom and Queen Mary in 1901. The tree is bent with their fruit which looks like Cannon Ball, which is how it came to be named.

DAY 10 | KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA (TRAVEL TIME: 02hrs)

After breakfast you will proceed further up in the Hill Country towards Nuwara Eliya & proceed to Galway Land National Park.

Galway's Land National Park is a small 27 ha (0.10 sq mi) national park, consisting of dense montane forest. It is located within the city limits of Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka, approximately 2 km (1 mi) east of the city centre. It was formally declared as a wildlife sanctuary on 27 May 1938. The Galway's Land was elevated to national park status on 18 May 2006. The park was declared to conserve the montane ecosystems. Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka considers that Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya and Galway's Land are two of the most significant birding sites in Sri Lanka. Galway's Land harbours about 20 rare migrant bird species and 30 native species.

On completion you will be walking at Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya. You may see few of birds around the lake.

DAY 11 | NUWARA ELIYA – HORTON PLAINS – NUWARA ELIYA

Today you will wake up in the morning and leave to Horton Plains around 0600hrs. You may see and explore more birds around in the Horton Plains. You will be served your morning packet with breakfast during the Horton plains safari.

Make a pre-dawn start with a packed breakfast to Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and take a guided walk along the nature trails to a viewpoint known as World’s End. A variety of wildlife including endemic Rhino-horned and Hump-nosed Lizards, highland bird species including the Sri Lanka White-eye, Dull-blue Flycatcher, Sri Lanka Bush Warbler, Yellow-eared Bulbul may be encountered. Also keep your eye out for troops of Bear Monkey, and Sambar (Sri Lanka’s largest species of deer) which are regularly seen in the plains close to the entrance.

On completion return to the hotel and you will start a nice walk around the hotel area.

DAY 12 | NUWARA ELIYA – KUMANA NATIONAL PARK (TRAVEL TIME: 03hrs & 45min)

Breakfast at hotel main restaurant, Today you will reach the Deep South in Sri Lanka. Upon arrival at the Deep South & Check in to the hotel. You will stay at leisure in the hotel & you will start to explore the Kumana National Park.

Located in the southeast corner of Sri Lanka , the 18,149 hectare KUMANA (YALA EAST) NATIONAL PARK is a well-known eco-tourism attraction and bird sanctuary where a multitude of birds breed and roost. One of the most significant features of the park is the 'Kumana Villu' - a 200 hectare natural swamp lake, fed by the 'Kumbukkan Oya' through a half mile long narrow channel. It is at this mangrove swamp that many water birds nest in May and June. Regular sightings include such species of bird as pelicans, painted storks, spoonbills, white ibis, herons, egrets and little cormorants.

Thereafter you will return to the hotel.

DAY 13 | BUNDALA NATIONAL PARK

Today you will wake up early in the morning & your morning full day bird safari is beginning on 0600hrs. You will be served your packet of Breakfast during the safari.

Around fifteen kilometres east of Hambantota (and a similar distance west of Tissa), Bundala National Park is one of Sri Lanka's foremost destinations for birdwatchers, protecting an important area of coastal wetland famous for its abundant aquatic (and other) birdlife, as well as being home to significant populations of elephants, crocodiles, turtles and other fauna, including the occasional leopard. Although it doesn't have quite the range of wildlife or scenery of nearby Yala National Park, Bundala is much quieter, and makes a good alternative if you want to avoid Yala's crowds.

On completion will be back to the hotel for your overnight.

DAY 14 | BUNDALA – BENTOTA (TRAVEL TIME: 02hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel, You will proceed to Bentota & Check in to the hotel, Thereafter you will be beginning Madu Gaga River Safari on the boat & you may see plenty of birds during the safari.

Balapitiya is famous for Madu river boat safari. It is located in Mangrove vegetation lines the riverbeds, and occasional islets emerge as the river flows into the sea. Further upstream, we see kraal-fishing constructions and fishermen making their way in rowing boats to collect their day's catch. The occasional blue kingfisher flits in the vicinity of the kraal, a pond heron stands tall in the water, and other wetland birds have arisen from their slumber. A relatively unspoiled lagoon, the Madu ganga estuary is a 915-hectare complex coastal wetland ecosystem that opens to the Indian Ocean. 770 hectares of the total area consist of open water, while the remaining 145 hectares are the islands. The site is an ecological asset that harbours many wetland vegetation types as well as a variety of fauna, including a number of globally and nationally threatened or endangered species.

On completion return to the hotel & you will spend at leisure in the hotel

DAY 15 | BENTOTA – AIRPORT (TRAVEL TIME: 02hrs & 30min)

Your breakfast on this day is included, however depending on your departure flight time leave to the airport 4 hours in advance for departure.
