On the second night, the Kumbal Perahera takes on a more energetic and synchronized rhythm, captivating the spectators with its evolving magnificence. The city of Kandy, still resonating from the opening night, prepares for another spectacular evening of devotion, tradition, and artistry.As darkness envelops the city, the procession moves out of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, this time with a larger entourage of performers and elephants. The whip-crackers, now more synchronized, signal the clearing of the path, followed by the torchbearers illuminating the streets with flaming torches. The hevisi drummers, now playing with more intensity, create a pulse that reverberates through the crowd, signifying the growing energy of the festival.
